VOX Scotland has been informed that Beacon CRM, the system we use to manage our membership information, has experienced a data breach following a cyber-security incident. The incident affects organisations across the UK that use Beacon CRM and is not specific to VOX Scotland.
Personal information belonging to VOX Scotland members may have been accessed. Beacon has confirmed that the breach has been contained and is investigating the full scope of the incident. Our team has followed all recommended actions and is working with Beacon and our partners in response.
At present, there is no evidence that the information has been published or misused, and we are not aware of any fraud or harm resulting from the incident. However, the information could potentially be used to make phishing emails, text messages or phone calls.
We have contacted VOX Scotland members directly and will provide further updates if we become aware of any significant developments.
Staying safe
Please be particularly vigilant about unexpected emails, text messages or phone calls. Do not share personal or financial information in response to unexpected contact, and do not click links or open attachments unless you are confident that they are genuine.
