We are Scotland’s national collective advocacy organisation for mental health.

‘With Us, For Us’ is a major new partnership project run jointly by VOX Scotland and Scottish Recovery Network to ensure lived experience engagement in Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Personality Disorder Programme.

Lived experience is at the heart of With Us, For Us. We not only listened to people but involve them in delivering the project. The Lived Experience Project Group worked with us at all stages of the project – designing, co-facilitating, report drafting and resource development.

We are delighted today to launch a range of new resources which have been developed by the ‘With Us, For Us’ project group, including:

With Us, For Us Report

The ‘With Us, For Us’ report provides an overview of the project, explores what good services would look like (and what is required to make these a reality!) and outlines proposals for change based on the lived experiences of people who have experienced trauma and/or who have been given a diagnosis of personality disorder.

The full report, summary report and a case study can be accessed by clicking the links below.

Animation: Putting people at the heart of mental health support

In this animation, Chloe, Laura, Holly, Martin and Ruth from the With Us, For Us Lived Experience Project Group share their experiences of services, what great support should look and feel like and how we can get there.

“Decisions about services should be made With Us, since these services are For Us and our recovery.”

You can access the animation above or by clicking the Youtube link here.

Practice Learning Workbook

This free practical resource, developed in collaboration with the Lived Experience Project Group, is for organisations and services supporting people living with trauma and/or personality disorder.

It is a useful tool for reflecting on how you and your team can improve your practice and take action to make positive changes with and for people.

You can access the Practice Learning Workbook here.

Living with Trauma Booklet: Storytelling through Photography and Artwork

‘Living with Trauma’ was created by the Lived Experience Project Group as a creative way of sharing their experiences.

“We, the Lived Experience Project Group (LEPG) were interested in sharing our creative skills to have a voice through photography and art. This booklet visually illustrates, in our own words, the reality of living with trauma.”

“We want people to know that while we might look like everybody else on the outside, on the inside it can be an entirely different picture. On the inside things aren’t quite as easy.”

You can access the booklet here.

Conference Poster

The With Us For Us Lived Experience Project Group, alongside Hannah from Scottish Recovery Network, were delighted to present learning from With Us, For Us at the recent British and Irish Group for the Study of Personality Disorder (BIGSPD) Conference.

We also exhibited a project poster at the event which you can click here to access.
